2018 BRUSH PICKUP: For districts 1 & 6  only will start on May1st through May 3rd.  It will be picked up once during that time. Please have your yard debris at the roadside for pickup.

Town of Clay Supervisor, Damian Ulatowski, and Highway Superintendent, Joe Nicoletti, would like to remind all town residents that reside in Districts 1 & 6 that brush collection will be held the first week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of May and October of each year.   The trucks will only pickup at your residence once during May and October; therefore it is essential that your debris be put at curbside by the first Monday of May and October.  If the trucks have already collected in your area, they will not return.  It will then be your responsibility to dispose of your debris.  Yard waste that consists of:  plants, grass, leaves, together with, shrubbery, limbs and small tree trunks that are less than 8 feet long and 6 inches in diameter will be picked up.  Anything larger must be sawed into blocks an average person can pick up.

The Town of Clay provides a Central Disposal Facility on the 2nd Saturday of months April - Nov for dropping off metal and heavy appliances ( excluding electronics and those containin freon).  Hours are 8am til noon.

For more information go to the highway page and hit the tab for Brush collection districts 1 & 6.

NOV 1st - APRIL 1st; 12:00 A.M. until 8:00 A.M.

What happens when a resident's mailbox is damaged during the winter?

The Town of Clay Highway Department under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will repair or replace a homeowner's mailbox that fall under these conditions:

  • Spindle type wooden post
  • Plastic of any kind (including Rubbermaid green surround)
  • Any post, including metal, which was already in unstable or poor condition
  • A mailbox that was popped off the cross member from the weight of pushed snow (if your mailbox shows no damage, but is just laying there, chances are it was not hit by the plow but the weight of pushed snow took the box off the support)
  • No paper tube will be reinstalled, repaired or replaced
  • Any that is located on a County or State maintained Highway

All mailbox posts will be replaced with a standard treated 4 X 4. All unusable mailboxes will be replaced with a standard mailbox with NO EXCEPTIONS.

***All qualifying mailboxes that were damaged by the town snowplow in the winter season of 2017-18 need to be reported by March 31, 2018.
