The Town of Clay’s bi-weekly brush collection service is for residential properties only. The Town has a 1-year contract from January 2012 through December 2012awarded to Superior Waste Removal, Inc. for Districts 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8.
Due to budgeting constraints the Town will no longer be able to pickup white goods, metal or brush, leaf pickup will continue. The Town will provide a Central Disposal Facility at the Town highway garage located at 4483 NYS Route 31, Clay, NY 13041 for Town of Clay residents to drop off metal and white goods (large appliances). The Central Disposal Facility will be open the second Saturday of each month of March through December** during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Items that cannot be dropped off include: computers, microwaves, televisions and anything containing Freon including refrigerators, dehumidifiers and air-conditioners, etc. If unsure whether an item can be dropped off, please call the highway department at 652-3800. Only non-artificial Christmas trees will be collected in January. The trees cannot be bagged in plastic and have any ornaments or tree stands attached. Trees buried in the snow and missed in January will be picked up in March.
Brush will be collected every other week starting mid-March until mid-December*.
Brush includes leaves, grass clippings, shrub cuttings, small branches and twigs, and must be placed in rigid plastic or metal containers or biodegradable containers. Plastic bags are not acceptable either inside or outside of any containers.
Full containers or bundles shall not weigh more than 75 pounds.
Limbs five feet long or less will be collected provided they are bundled and tied together. Limbs shall be no greater than 6 inches in diameter.
It is the Town of Clay policy that anyone who removes and/or has any fallen trees on their property is responsible for the removal and disposal of same unless meeting the above criteria.
All potted plants shall be removed from their plastic containers (pots). The plastic containers will not be collected as part of this service.
Dirt/Sod must be removed from plant roots and will not be disposed of as brush.
Please place Christmas trees, brush containers and limb bundles outside of road pavement and any gutters so as not to obstruct traffic or block drainage.
Brush discarded in Town parks and right-of-ways is prohibited and violators will be fined.
Items that will not be collected during bi-weekly brush collection include: rubbish, refuse, recyclables, construction materials, furniture, appliances, sinks, tubs, white goods, carpet, tires, batteries, automobile parts, etc. Any of these items mistakenly left at the curb will not be picked up and, according to Town regulations, must be removed from the street before 6 p.m. on collection day.
Brush must be from a resident’s property within his/her brush district and not from outside areas.
It is the hauler’s responsibility to return empty containers to approximately the same location. If you have a complaint, please call Superior Waste Removal Inc., 315-475-4416.
