The Town Clerk is a licensing agent as well as custodian of all Town records. As secretary to the Town Board the Town Clerk is responsible for recording all their actions (minutes), and
following through with filing them with the proper agencies. It is a diverse office involving a variety of duties, such as the following:
---
Dog Licenses
(All dogs four months or older are required to be licensed.), We handle dog license renewals, dog license tag replacements and dog redemptions. If your dog gets picked up by Animal Control, it will be taken to
Central New York Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) ,
5878 E. Molloy Road, Mattydale, New York 13211, Telephone No. (315)
454-4479. A redemption requires that the dog is or must be licensed, be up to date on its rabies, and redemption fees must be paid at the Town Clerk's Office, before picking it up from
the
SPCA.

Conservation Licenses
(fishing, hunting, trapping, bow hunting, muzzle loading, turkey permits, lost licenses) Note: New York State Residents 65 or older qualify for a senior license at a cost of $5.00 for a Sportsman or Fishing license. Those seniors who may have a free 70 or older FISHING only license, do not throw this out. They are no longer issued and are good forever. Non-resident licenses also available at our office. Lifetime licenses are available
at our office.
---
Marriage Licenses. No appointment necessary. We just ask that you come in by 4:00 P.M. Cost is
$40.00 (cash or check only). Both people must be present. Anyone previously married must furnish a
copy of all divorce papers. A current driver's license and a birth
certificate are required. Additional forms of proof are a passport,
military I.D. or Employer's photo.
---
Marriage Transcripts
and certified copies of any marriages filed with the Town of Clay.
Proof must be presented in order to acquire one. The cost is
$10.00.
·---
Handicap parking permits
for Town of Clay residents only. See Forms and
Directions. The applicant is the handicapped individual.
Once the applicant's portion of the form is completed, the Doctor needs
to complete and sign his portion. It must be signed by a Doctor,
not a nurse or physician's assistant. The form should be returned to the
Town Clerk's Office along with the applicant's drivers license or non
drivers license, if the applicant has one. Please make
sure the Doctor specifies whether it is a temporary or permanent medical
condition. Click
