How do I  request reports?

Citizens-Motor Vehicle Accident reports and Domestic Incident Reports may be picked up in person or may be requested in writing along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. There is no charge for reports. All incident reports (ie. Larcenies, criminal mischief, burglaries…) MUST be requested in writing with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Reports may not be available unless the case has been closed.


Insurance Companies-ALL police reports must be requested in writing along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Reports may not be available unless the case has been closed. There is no charge for reports. 

Please allow 3 to 5 days for all report approvals. Reports may not be available unless they have been approved by a supervisor. 

What is the law on Winter Parking?

Town of Clay Ordinance prohibits overnight parking on all town and county highways during winter months. Winter Months are NOVEMBER 1ST –APRIL 1ST between 12:00 midnight to 8:00 am. Violations will result in car being towed. 
SNOW=TOW & NO SNOW=TOW.

What are the laws regarding Public Roadways?

All roads within the Town of Clay including cul-de-sacs, are public highways. Therefore the following activities and obstructions in the road are prohibited: skateboard ramps, goals or nets, basketball hoops, bike ramps. In addition, painting any type of athletic court or field on a roadway is prohibited. 

What are the Park Hours and Laws?

Clay Park Central, Clay Park North, Clay Park South and Meltzer Park are open at 6 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. All Town of Clay green areas and neighborhood parks close at 9:00 p.m.
All motor vehicles (including snowmobile’s and ATV’s) are prohibited in Town green areas and parks. Parks ordinances are enforced.

What are the hours of the Clay Police Department? 

Administrative office is open Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office is closed on weekends and federal holidays.

How do I contact The Clay Police Department?

Police Administrative phone number is 652-3846 and Animal Control’s phone # is 652-3848. Town of Clay Police non-emergency number and after hour’s number is 652-3777. FOR ALL EMERGENCIES CALL 911.

How Do I get to the Clay Police Department?

From Thruway-get off at Exit 37. Take a right at the end of exit onto Electronics Parkway. At the 4 corners (Hess gas stations in front of you) Electronics Pkwy. turns into Henry Clay Blvd. Continue North on Henry Clay for approximately 3 miles. Take a left onto Route 31. Town of Clay Police is ¼ mile down of the right. Turn into the 2nd driveway, PD is in the rear of the building. 

From 81-get off at the Cicero Route 31 exit (Exit 30). Head west on route 31 and follow for approximately 4 miles. Town of Clay Police is ¼ mile past the Henry Clay Blvd. intersection on the right, turn into 2nd driveway; the PD is in the rear of the building.

From 481-get off at the Cicero-Baldwinsville Route 31 exit (Exit 12). Head west on Route 31(the Great Northern Mall will be on your left). Continue west for approximately 1-½ miles, Town of Clay Police is located on your left, turn into the 1st driveway, the PD is in the rear of the building.

How do I apply for a position with the Clay Police Department?

How can I get fingerprinted (without being arrested)?

There is a $12 charge for fingerprinting. Fingerprints are done for Town of Clay residents only.

How do I get a Record Check?

Only personal record checks are done. Police criminal record checks will only indicate a record from the Town of Clay Police. All record checks are to be done in person with valid picture identification (i.e. NYS driver’s license), and require a release from the individual authorizing the record check. Criminal history checks are $7.

The Animal Control phone number is 652-3848.

What are Animal Control's Hours?

Animal Control hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

What are the Local Dog Control Ordinances?

There is a leash law in the Town of Clay. All dogs must be on a leash at all times and in control by their owner.
It is necessary for all dog owners to pick up any waste left behind by their dog.
Any barking, howling or wailing that disturbs the peace of others is a violation of the the noise ordinance.
